Metaphysical poetry :-
       On 17 to 19 Aug, we have lecturer on metaphysical poetry by Dr Mandaliya sir. interaction with Mandaliya sir was very well. Mandaliya sir has a unique style of teaching and word pronoucing was excellent. So through Mandaliya sir we learn so many things about metaphysical poetry and also history of English literature.

                John Donne is called metaphysical poet as his poetry reveals all the characteristics that we generally associate with metaphysical poetry. John Donne is the leading poet of metaphysical  poetry...... He is metaphysical because his poetry is replete with conceits. Conceits is a prominent feature of metaphysical poetry.

       The term 'Metaphysical poetry' was frist time used by Dr semual Johnson in a negative sense in his book 'lives of the most eminent English poet but after time passed it become admirable for Samuel Johnson.

Characteristics of Metaphysical poetry :

* Analyze the subject matter from an intellectual viewpoint. A metaphysical poet would not simply declare a feeling of love; he would analyze it and try to understand it's higher purpose and meaning

*Its higher purpose and meaning

*Heavy use of literature devices, like paradox, pun, and irony to convey the subject matter.

*Random or irregular style.

        5. The Good marrow

        "The Good-Marrow" is a poem by John Donne published in his 1633 collection songs and sonnets. This three stanza poem revolves around two main metaphors, A couple of lovers looking into a new world created by their Love" A dude wakes up next to his lover and stars dislike about love. What the freak did we do before we were, like in a relationship?
