S. T. Coleridge:-
S. T. Coleridge was the friend and contemporary of William Wordsworth in other words, Coleridge is a leading poet of the first generation of the romantic poet's. The poetry collection entitled lurical ballads published in 1798 was not on thr mile stone of the romantic movement of 19th century English literature but also known for the combined authorship of Coleridge and Wordsworth. Coleridge evolved the theory of imagination and differentiated fancy from imagination Coleridge's poetry takes us into the dreamy world of the unreal. I the poet projects the super natural and there by mystified his topics of poetry. Coleridge's poetry is a complex one and it is marked with subtlety. Unlike Wordsworth, Coleridge introduces flightsvof imagination, unfamiliar metaphors and imagines and the poet probes into the inner most of the character.
About Poem:-
Christabel is a long narrative poem if Coleridge published in 1816. The publication covers up two parts but the poem remembers. 'Christabel ' could be identified as a story in verse. The very title suggests that it is a character based poem. Christabel, daughter of sir Leoline, I praying of night in the wood for her betrothed lover, finds a lady in distress, the fair Geraldine and brings her to the castle where she is hospitabily received. She claims to be the daughter of lord Roland de vaux who had onec been the friend of sir Leoline. But then two friends quarrelled and saperated long bake.
